Founded in 1961 by three partners Booth, Adams and Templeton, its original purpose was to provide self employment to the three partners in the local residential and light industrial masonry industry. Having purchased the equity of the other two partners, Wayne Booth filed letters of incorporation in 1962.
Originally subcontracting only the labor portion of the masonry installation, by the mid 1960's BAT was able to carry both labor and material. This was a benchmark for the growth of new firms in the masonry industry. BAT continued to make steady gains in both assets and revenues until the recession of the late 1970's. Like the rest of the industry BAT suffered substantial losses during this period. Through Wayne's leadership and innovation BAT was able to persevere through the tough times until the construction boom of the 1980's in Northern Virginia.
Focusing on this regional market produced increased profitability which led to rapid growth and expansion. By investing heavily in equipment and pursuing an aggressive marketing strategy, these profits also enabled BAT to increase it market share in other regions including Central Virginia and Central/Eastern North Carolina.
In the past two decades the market focus has shifted to the larger Institutional, Commercial Projects. These include healthcare, detention facilities for both federal and states agencies as well as significant institutional work for both regional school boards and major universities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Currently the Founder and CEO Wayne Booth is very active in the organization while the day to day operations have been passed to the Vice-President of Operations, Greg Booth, his son. Wayne and Greg are joined by an experienced management team consisting of Estimators, Project Managers and Project Superintendents. The company's commitment to quality and performance continue to enable it to provide Owner's, Architect's and General Contractor's throughout the Mid-Atlantic with impeccable service.
